What Faith Can Do

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

We always hear about the power of faith in the Bible, but when you've lived in it, walked in it, and seen the fruits of it for yourself, the reality of what it can do becomes more than history on a page–it becomes your reality.

Whenever you get the chance to sit down and read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), one of the recurring things you'll see is the faith by which people lived and saw the miracles of Christ.

Believe it or not, faith has the power to move mountains. Maybe in our lifetime we won't see our faith physically move the mountains of the earth, but I believe it has the power to move the mountains of our life.

Faith activates the power of God to move in your life and gives you full access to the resources of Heaven. All you have to do is believe (Mark 11:22-24). It only takes faith as small as a mustard seed (Matt. 17:20).

I do want to get one thing straight because it's all too easy to misconstrue what is true. Yes, God says in His Word ask of anything in prayer and if you believe it, it is yours, but asking for a million dollars and believing it to be yours most likely will end up with you still having the same number of 0's in your bank account after all the amens have been said.

Here's the thing—our faith doesn't activate the power of God to move in our lives to benefit our flesh. Jesus said in Mark 11 to have faith in God—faith in God. Meaning, what we have faith for must be aligned with God. It must be centered on Him and in Him.

I believe God will not give what He does not endorse. That's where people get easily discouraged when what they've prayed for is left unanswered. Or maybe there is a prayer yet to be answered. Remember God does not operate by our timeline. His ways and His thoughts are higher (Isaiah 55:8-9). Our responsibility is not to see to it that the prayer is answered, but to believe in God who will.

When we have faith and we pray, we must do so with God's interest in mind. Let me encourage you that God's interest will always be in your best interest according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19). So believe that what He has for you is good because the goodness He brings in your life always points back to Him. Isn't that what our faith should do? Point to the faithfulness of God.

We have every opportunity to have faith. Walking in it is up to you.
